Enrique Torres / Enric

Without doubt, Enrique Torres (also known as Enric) has to be one of the all time great Vampirella artists. A master of paint and canvas, Enric's work graced many a cover of Warren Publishing's Creepy, Eerie and Vampirella.

Not much is known about Enric, but his work speaks for itself - and regularly fetches top prices on the rare occasion that one of his pieces comes up for sale (for example, the picture below of Vampirella squatting in a ring of fire sold for just under $9,000 in 2008!).

He is also responsible for a stunning Vampirella triptych, and is one of my all time top ten Vampirella artists.

Note: click on the thumbnails below for the full size pictures (many of which are very large!)

There is a rare artistic device called a triptych. Basically, a triptych is:-

Triptych (trišp'tišk) noun (from the Greek tri- "three" + ptyche¯ "fold")
A work of art (usually a panel painting) which is divided into three sections, or three carved panels which are hinged together. The central panel is the most important one, and this is flanked on either side by two lesser but related paintings. The whole is intended to be greater than the sum of the parts. The triptych form arises from early Christian art, and was the standard format for altar paintings from the Middle Ages onwards.

So far as I am aware, Enric is responsible for the only Vampirella Triptych in existence, and the three panels are shown below. As usual, you can click on a panel to view it in a separate window.
