Bugs: An Infestation of Fear
Vampirella and Pendragon are traveling in his caravan when they arrive in Whitmore, North Carolina. The town is in a state of fear as they have an infestation of giant insects which have developed intelligence. Vampirella finds she can communicate with the insects who have built a giant hive in the side of a mountain. Miners have killed many of the insects and their "children" with their blasting and the insects have retaliated. Vampirella tries to calm the frightened townsfolk, but the local Sheriff has her and Pendragon thrown in jail while he and his posse go to sort out the "monsters".

Vampirella escapes but is too late to save the hive whose Queen is killed. The remaining insects vanish into the night to establish a new colony.

This is a reprint from the Creepy Fearbook (1993), and the Vampirella "flip" is the secondary part of the book. About 70-80% of the pages are devoted to a two issue climax to Cain - a sort of cybernetically enhanced government agent.
