The Warren Companion - July 2001

Warren CompanionTwoMorrows Publishing.
First edition 8.5" x 11" Paperback.

The Warren Companion is the ultimate compendium to the great comics of Warren Publishing, examining all the titles including Creepy, Eerie, Vampirella, Blazing Combat, Help!, The Spirit, and many more!

Including a cross-indexed artist and writer listing, this tome also features a new painted cover by Alex Horley, reams of unpublished art, archival photos, examinations of Warren's competition, plus exhaustive details on Warren merchandise, conventions, top strips, most prolific contributors, foreign publications, and many other fascinating oddities!

Also within it's pages are new articles on Richard Corben, Frank Frazetta, Steve Ditko and others, and interviews with Bernie Wrightson, Jim Warren, Will Eisner, Neal Adams, Gene Colan and many more.

Now out of print and extremely scarce, this is a must-have for any Warren Publications collector.

Signed EditionThere is also a Limited Edition version which is signed by Jim Warren. Only 1,000 copies were produced and all are individually signed and numbered on an interior page.

If you are a Warren fan then this book is a must! The complete, detailed history of Warren and a complete listing of every magazine etc.

I would think that it would be nearly impossible to read this as a book, but as a reference that you dip into to clarify facts it is invaluable. This is the encyclopedia of Warren.

What I'd like to know is why Alex Horley gave Vampirella a black costume with back-straps? Having said that, she does look good in black and assuming, of course, that it is supposed to be Vampirella front and center on the cover.
