Harris Publications had bought not only the character of Vampirella, but also owned all of the previous Vampirella comics published by Warren! Rather than let them gather dust in the vaults of comicdom, the Crimson Chronicles presents the best of the early Warren comic books. Issue 1 of the Chronicles covers the stories from the first ten issues of the Warren Vampirella series!

Issue #2 (2004)

The Chronicles continue with a range of stories (not all of which are about Vampirella) from the Warren Vampirella series, issues 11 - 18. If you are a new reader of Vampirella or too young to have been buying comic books and horror magazines in the 1970s, then this is quite a good introduction to Vampirella of yore!

The third volume of the series features stories from Warren Vampirella issues 19-28. I don't think this series sold well, which may explain why the price dropped from $19.95 to $14.95.

On the positive side, if you can't afford to buy copies of the original Warren comics then this could be a good way to catch up on key stories.

Issue #4 (2005)

Regular cover

Regular cover - Luis Dominguez $14.95

The Chronicles continue with the Vampirella feature story from Issues 29 to 41, plus a four page History of Vampires and an article about the process of creating a comic book/ magazine.

As a long time Vampirella collector there is nothing new here for me, but for someone who hasn't read these stories before this book is great value - 160 pages of entertainment for $14.95!
