Everything you ever wanted to know about Vampirella, daughter of Drakulon

Frank Granados

I came across Frank Granados on eBay and was instantly taken with his approach to Vampirella.

He lives in Phoenix, Arizona but was born and raised in El Paso, Texas where he studied art and design at the El Paso Community College.

Frank emailed me to say "I love to draw and paint. My favourite artists are Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Degas, and Frank Frazetta. My favourite subject to draw and paint is the female face.

"I used to read Vampirella comics with my brothers when we were kids. I love to paint her because she is so beautiful and her costume is very easy to do. That allows me to concentrate on her face. I draw faces from my imagination and sometimes I like to combine different features ... Someone's eyes on a different face. I guess I'm looking for a face, in my imagination, that I think belongs on Vampirella."

It's pretty easy to see the influence that the "classic" artists (including Frazetta) have had on Frank. It's also nice to see his work is still out there and getting better as time passes.
